New digs for the tomatoes
Tomorrow is transplant day for the tomatoes. Unfortunately they can’t be planted outside yet because we are having an extended winter in Cleveland. They have grown so much that if I don’t get them into bigger pots they will become root bound.
So I have purchased 150 individuals pots and I will be using the trough containers from last year for the first two flats of tomatoes.
The basil will be transplanted also. It is busting out of the pots. Smells so good. Basil is by far one of my favorite herbs.
I have 16 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes. I didn’t plant cherry tomatoes this year because for as yummy as they are they’re a pain in the butt.
I am also growing two different varieties of basil. It’ll be interesting to taste the subtle differences.
Three different varieties of eggplant are growing wonderfully from seed and hopefully will continue to do so once they make it into the garden. And I also grew 10 varieties of peppers from seed.
That’s all for today. I am exhausted from unloading 4 yards of alpaca poop given to me from a friend to enhance my gardens. He forgot to tell me of the special treat that was in the manure. Apparently he disposes of his animals when they die by burying them in the manure. I only found out because of the bones that were in my load. 😳
